Project INFLEXION

Vehicle-to-everything (V2X) Consumer Survey Report

Bi-directional EV charging is becoming a necessary technology to manage grid load and achieve net zero. Through this technology, known as Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X), EVs can push excess energy back into homes and the grid - unlocking true transformation for customers, utilities and system operators.

Kaluza, Volkswagen Group, OVO and Indra recently completed Project INFLEXION, a V2X trial that was part of the V2X Innovation Programme, funded by DESNZ and delivered by Innovate UK.

As a consortium, we knew we needed to fully understand consumers' perceptions and attitudes to V2X so that we could identify ways to scale V2X for the future. As part of the INFLEXION project, we surveyed a nationally representative sample of over 2,000 EV Drivers and ‘EV Considerers’, across the UK to test our proposed ideas.

This report shares the full findings from that survey - which is actually the world’s first V2X-focused consumer survey. The findings highlight how consumers feel about this new technology and how we can change behaviour and increase the adoption of bi-directional charging.
